Benfica has been following Nigerian Umar Sadiq (Almería) as a chance to replace Darwin Núñez at the end of this season, BSNSports.com.ng reports .
Umar Sadiq could follow exactly the same path as Darwin. Benfica signed a Uruguayan striker from Almería for 24 million euros in 2020, but due to his excellent performance in the Champions League showcase, where he scores five goals, the player will have many interested parties.
To prevent a possible departure, Benfica will be on the lookout for Sadiq, 25 years old, who in two seasons has scored 38 goals in 73 games for the Spanish emblem.
In their bid to win the race for Sadiq, Valencia would see a boost in their finances if they seal a place in one of the European competitions spots next season.
Valencia are back in the hunt for a man who is once again linked with some of Europe’s biggest sides, including Villarreal and Benfica.
In addition, the 2004 UEFA Cup winners may also need to offload striker Maxi Gomez to afford a Sadiq, who has a €60 million release clause in his contract.
