Labour Party Peter Obi Visits Tijani Babangida

The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has joined the long list of dignitaries visiting former Super Eagles player Tijani Babangida and his family, who were involved in a serious car accident a few weeks ago, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Obi, who spoke shortly after visiting the injured Babangida in Abuja on Thursday, said that both Tijjani and his late brother Ibrahim made the nation proud with their service.

He said, “They made us happy with their talents, and in times like this, they deserve our sympathy and attention.

“I came to commensurate with him for the wound, for the lost ones, for the trauma and to show him that he is not forgotten.”

He promised to offer any form of assistance that would be required of him to further help in the treatment of his wife, who is in critical condition. Following his wife's condition, there are plans to fly her abroad for better treatment.

An elated Tijani Babangida expressed happiness with the visit of Peter Obi, informing him that he has been getting stronger because of the love Nigerians have shown to him.

Tijiani who is the President of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria also informed Obi how help has been coming to him through his former colleagues and club in Holland the Ajax football club.

While narrating the incident to the former Labour party presidential candidate he lamented how he lost he lost his brother, and his son and his wife are still seriously in pain from the ugly accident.

TJ as he is fondly called by his admirers stressed that though it is not an easy experience he will forever be grateful to Nigerians, his former football colleagues and particularly the Kaduna state government who have stood behind him since the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medalist and the General Secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, Emmanuel Babayero who was with Tijiani when Obi visited, thanked him for the pleasant visit and said such a gesture is necessary to encourage the ex-player.

“He thanked Obi for who he is and what he has achieved in trying to make society better.”
