Lagos State FA Announces Postponement Of Federation Cup Kick off Date

Lagos State Football Association has announced the postponement of the kick-off of the State Federation Cup scheduled for this weekend. 

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of FA, Akeem Rabiu-Okikioposu stating that the reason for the rescheduling of the kick was necessary following civil unrest and safety of lives of players, officials and fans. 

Consequently the opening Rooky Matches scheduled to hold on Saturday and Sunday, February 18/19, 2023 have been postponed until a later date.

Mr Okikioposu also explained that the move was necessary in order to have a seamless kick off of matches and to ensure the safety of players, match officials and fans.

A new kick off date, when available, wouid be communicated to stakeholders of the game.

Five centers spread across the state have been selected to host the matches.

The venues are Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Strong Towers Academy, Ikorodu, Nathaniel Idowu Football Pitch, Ajegunle, Abati Barracks Pitch, Ojuelegba and Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere.

Dannaz FC are the men’s defending champions after defeating Otassolo 3-1 in last year’s final while 12 time winners FC Robo Queens won the women’s competition by beating Dannaz Ladies FC.

The top two men’s teams and winners of the women’s championship from this year’s tournament will represent Lagos State in the 2023 Federation Cup to be organised by the Nigeria Football Federation.
