Latvian Club Complete Loan Signing of Nigerian Forward

Latvian top-flight side BFC Daugavpils have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Joel Yakubu on loan from Czech First League club Slovan Liberec until the end of the season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The move has been approved by Slovan Liberec as part of efforts to provide the 20-year-old with regular first-team football and further his development at top-flight level.

Yakubu, who celebrated his 20th birthday last week, is understood to be keen on using the opportunity to establish himself and gain valuable experience in a competitive European league.

The versatile attacker joined Slovan Liberec in 2024 from Nigeria-based Mahanaim FC but has found first-team opportunities limited since his arrival in the Czech Republic.

Capable of operating as a winger or an attacking midfielder, Yakubu is expected to add pace and creativity to BFC Daugavpils’ attacking options for the remainder of the campaign.
