The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reaffirmed Engr. Elekwachi Chukwudi Dimkpa as President of the Nigeria Karate Federation (NKF), bringing clarity to the federation's leadership following months of uncertainty, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Commission's decision effectively resolves the leadership dispute that emerged after the federation's election held last year, reaffirming Dimkpa's position at the helm of Nigerian karate.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the NSC described Dimkpa as an experienced administrator with an extensive background in engineering, business leadership, sports administration, and public service.

Before assuming the presidency, Dimkpa served as the South-South Chairman and a board member of the Nigeria Karate Federation, where he contributed to policy development, athlete welfare, sponsorship initiatives, and the overall growth of the sport.

According to the Commission, Dimkpa has consistently supported the development of karate in Nigeria through the sponsorship of national and regional championships, backing Team Nigeria's participation at international competitions, and promoting reforms aimed at strengthening the federation's administration.

The NSC noted that his experience in leadership, strategic planning, resource mobilization, and organisational development positions him to lead the federation as it seeks to advance the sport across the country.

Speaking on the development, Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, reiterated the Commission's commitment to promoting fairness, equity, and good governance across all national sports federations.

Olopade also called on members of the karate community to put their differences aside and work together in the interest of the sport.

He urged stakeholders to embrace reconciliation, peace, and unity, while encouraging Dimkpa to operate an inclusive administration by maintaining an open-door policy and engaging all stakeholders in the federation's activities.
