Leicester City Boss Defends Wilfred Ndidi

Sampson Adedeji

Despite criticism from Leicester City fans, Dean Smith has defended Nigeria's Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, BSNSports.com.ng report.

The Nigerian international was blamed by fans for giving away a penalty, which was converted by Erling Haaland to take the game beyond the Foxes.

Smith, while speaking to the LCTV, said if the ball didn't hit his hand then it will hit his face.

"Yes, it's unfortunate. I mean, Tim (Castagne) is looking to stop the cross. Jack Grealish lifts it, you know, to stand it up at the far post, and Wilf's lifted his leg to try and stop it as well.

"And if the ball doesn't hit his hand, it hits his face. But I would have certainly been claiming that as well if I was their manager", he said.

Leicester City lost the game 3-1 and further sink into the relegation water.
