Lekan Salami Stadium Project Second Phase Will Begin Soon -Oyo Sports Commissioner

Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke has assured sports enthusiasts in the state that the second phase of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, project will soon commence, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Adegoke stated this on Friday when she hosted members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State chapter saying everything is set to make the project happen.

According to her, the task is on the Ministry to make things work accordingly as the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde is ready to do the needful.

The Main Bowl of the stadium was only the first phase of the entire project which was commissioned two years ago.

The second phase comprises the Gymnasium and Indoor Sports Hall for a variety of sporting activities, a world-class tennis court as well and luxury apartments which will be given out on annual subscriptions for members of the public.

Adegoke also hinted that they are ready to revive the Governor’s Cup and to include the Primary School Sports in the state to participate to develop the talents from the grassroots.

“The Governor has assured us that the second phase of the Lekan Salami Stadium will commence very soon where all the necessary things will be put in place for other sports to thrive.

“The Governor is a lover of sports and we in the Ministry are to make things right by monitoring the necessary things before the work commences."

Also, the Director of Sports Administration in the Ministry, Mrs Adegoke lauded the Governor for appointing the first female Sports Commissioner making it a gender balance.

The director thus urged the media for support promising that the Ministry under the able leadership of the Commissioner is ready to work with the SWAN to develop sports in the state.
