Lekjaa Boycotts CAF Executive Committee Meeting In Tanzania
Sampson Adedeji
President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Faouzi Lekjaa, was absent from the recent Executive Committee meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) held in Tanzania, BSNSports.com.ng reports .
Lekjaa reportedly boycotted the high-level gathering, a move believed to be linked to growing internal tensions within the continental football governing body.
Sources indicate that dissatisfaction over what has been described as inadequate sanctions following incidents surrounding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final contributed to his decision.
There are also concerns about a perceived lack of coordination and cohesion within CAF’s leadership structure.
The Executive Committee meeting, which brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on strategic issues affecting African football, proceeded in his absence.
However, Lekjaa’s decision has further fueled speculation about underlying disagreements at the top level of the organization.
CAF is yet to issue an official statement addressing the Moroccan FA president’s absence from the meeting.
