Nigerian defender Leon Balogun has officially confirmed his departure from Rangers, becoming the first of several expected summer exits from the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Balogun’s contract expires at the start of June, and despite expressing a desire to remain at Ibrox, his future had remained uncertain until now.

The 36-year-old has revealed that he will not be returning to the club, expressing disappointment over the circumstances of his departure.

In a heartfelt message posted on X, Balogun shared his frustration about not being able to say a proper farewell to the fans at Ibrox.

"If I had known that the last two games of the season were my last for the club, I would have made sure to say goodbye to all of you accordingly,” he wrote.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t afforded that opportunity, which saddens me, as I would have liked to walk around Ibrox one last time and return all the love and support you’ve given me during my two stints.”

Balogun made 20 appearances for Rangers this season.
