Leroy Warns Algeria: Cage Osimhen, Lookman Or Face Exit
Ibrahim Lateef
Former AFCON-winning coach with the Cameroon Indomitable Lions, Claude Leroy, has warned Algeria's Desert Warriors that their best chance of getting a result against Nigeria is to contain the duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
The two African football giants will face off on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, held at Stade de Marrakech, Ouahat Sidi Ibrahim, vying for a place in the last four of the continent's biggest football tournament.
Leroy commented on Algeria's qualification against Congo and the upcoming showdown with Nigeria.
"Algeria earned its qualification; they were more enterprising than Congo. It won't be easy against Nigeria; they will need to manage Lookman and Osimhen."
Both teams progressed through the group stage with a perfect record, being the only two teams to do so.
However, that achievement will mean little if either team falters at this stage.
This sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting contest in Marrakech between two in-form sides, where there is little margin for error.
