The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has officially submitted its bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in either 2028, 2032 or 2036, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The North African nation is seeking to stage the continent's biggest football tournament for the first time, with the federation confirming its interest in hosting one of the next three available editions.

Libya's bid forms part of the country's efforts to strengthen its football infrastructure and establish itself as a major destination for continental sporting events.

CAF is expected to evaluate all submitted bids before deciding the host nations for the future AFCON tournaments.

Libya will face competition from other interested countries as the race to host the prestigious championship gathers momentum.

If successful, hosting the AFCON would mark a significant milestone for Libyan football and further boost the country's profile within African football.
