According to reports, Libyans allegedly attacked Benin Republic coach, Gernot Rohr and his technical crew after an AFCON qualifier, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

It was gathered that while the Cheetahs had secured their qualification for the 2025 AFCON, they were attacked before returning to the hotel.

According to a local publication in the Benin Republic, "The Beninese players remained stuck in the locker rooms of the Tripoli International Stadium after the match.

"The reason? Libyan security reportedly advised the Beninese delegation not to join their bus until the angry local supporters had evacuated the stadium and its surroundings.

"An advice well followed by the Beninese group who remained at the stadium until after 8 p.m. Beninese time, more than an hour after the final whistle.

"According to the facts reported by Hugues Zinsou Zounou, a Libyan policeman allegedly hit coach Gernot Rohr before doing the same to one of the security guards of the Beninese delegation. A sad event that confirms all the difficulties unfortunately linked to a trip to Libya for an away match."
