Like Father Like Son - Kelly Kester Gets Unveiled by Bendel Insurance

Ahead of the 2023-24 Nigeria Premier League season, last season's unbeaten record setters, Bendel Insurance, have completed the signing and unveiling of former Shooting Stars defensive midfielder - Kelly Kester Oahimijie, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Bendel Insurance landed the services of Kester as a shock absorber in the middle of the pack giving his defensive and holding profile to ensure better competition for the league as the Benin Arsenal competes for a second signing in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Kester is not a visitor to the Nigerian League turf since his days with the likes of Nasarawa United in 2015, Enyimba International in 2018, Lobi Stars in the Covid19 era, back to the 3SC in 2022, and now Bendel Insurance for the 2023-24 campaign. 

According to the 31-year-old, a part of the reason the decision was easy was his father's spell at the Benin Arsenal growing up as a child.

"Bendel Insurance is one of the biggest teams in Nigeria, a very traditional team, and growing up, I've always watched my dad play for Bendel Insurance. So, it was not a complicated decision coming here," he said.

The transfer deal sees Kester Oahimijie ply his trade with the Benin City-based club for the next two years.
