Lookman, Osimhen Makes 2024 IFFHS Award Shortlists

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS ) has released the list of the nominated players for the 2024 awards, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The football body announced a list of 30 players, among who may succeed 2023 winner Norwegian and Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.

Prominent on the list are Nigeria's Super Eagles duo of Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.

Lookman, who is also on the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or, has been impressive in 2024, leading Atalanta to their first European title.

He also scored 3 goals to propel the Super Eagles into the final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Osimhen, on his part, also played a key role in Nigeria reaching the AFCON final while he also hit a double-digit goal for Napoli.

He has hit the ground running for the Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray.

Both Nigerian Internationals will compete with Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Phil Foden among others.
