By Our Reporter
Ademola Lookman delivered a standout performance on a decisive UEFA Champions League night, scoring once and assisting another as Atalanta earned an impressive 3–0 away victory against Eintracht Frankfurt, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian forward’s patience and persistence were rewarded during a dominant second-half display that transformed the match.
Lookman came close early in the game when his first-time effort struck the right post, with Gianluca Scamacca’s follow-up also crashing against the same upright. Despite Atalanta’s bright start, the first half ended goalless, with Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer denying Lookman again shortly after the restart.
The breakthrough finally arrived on the hour mark. Charles De Ketelaere delivered a precise cross that Lookman met with a superbly timed volley to give Atalanta a deserved lead. Just minutes later, the Nigerian turned provider, slicing open Frankfurt’s defence with a perfectly weighted pass that allowed Éderson to slide the ball under Zetterer for the second.
Atalanta sealed the win soon after when Scamacca’s powerful strike hit the underside of the bar, enabling De Ketelaere to pounce on the rebound for the third goal of the night.
Reflecting on the performance, Lookman noted: “In the first half we had a few chances, and coming out in the second half, we knew we had to create chances again.”
The result not only strengthens Atalanta’s Champions League campaign but also offers a boost of momentum the club hopes to carry into their Serie A fixtures.
