Lookman Transfer Row: Ex-Watford Boss Urges Atalanta To Forgive Winger

Former Watford manager Giuseppe Sannino has called on Atalanta to forgive and reintegrate Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman into the squad, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward has been embroiled in a prolonged transfer saga after Inter Milan’s €45 million bid was turned down earlier this summer.

Frustrated by the club’s stance, the 27-year-old handed in a transfer request, accused Atalanta of “breaking promises,” and even went on an unauthorized two-week absence from training.

Reacting to the situation, Sannino told Tutto Atalanta that the Bergamo side cannot afford to lose Lookman’s quality this season and urged both parties to mend fences.

“I would always want Lookman,” Sannino said. “He’s been a pillar of the team. As a coach and as a club, I’d do anything to keep him.

“It’s normal for a young player to aspire to something bigger, but we must do everything possible to convince him, because he’s a great player.”
