Lulu Discusses Grassroot Football Development With Gusau
By Gbenga Gboyega
Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation - Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, on Wednesday, visited the Glasshouse (NFF Secretariat) to visit the incumbent President - Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, as they discussed all things related to football development at the grassroots level.
BSNSports.com.ng gathered intel from the visit as Lulu who is titled the Omachi Attah of Igalaland was elated to return to the office he presided over a decade ago between 2006 and 2010.
“I feel honoured to be here. This is my first time in the NFF, sitting happily with a sitting NFF President, since I left office", Lulu said according to the Nigeria Football Federation's website.
I am happy about the path you have chosen, about the fact that you’re a bridge-builder, and about your honest intentions in taking Nigeria Football to new heights."
Gusau responded to the comments made by Lulu while also highlighting his impact after leaving office in 2010.
“You are one man we all respect so much because football is the center of your existence. Even after leaving office as NFF President, you have remained in the game and your school continues to churn out good products for our football teams.
“What you are doing is invaluable and it is making a real impact because very few people are providing the opportunity for our young men to blend their urge for education with their passion for football", added Gusau.
Like a show of bromance, Lulu accepted the kind words of Mr. NFF President with feelings of nostalgia,
“I am happy doing what I am doing. I thank God for the little I was able to do with my team while we were. It was so many years ago but I still feel the passion because I never really left,â€
Alhaji Sani Lulu is also the owner of FOSLA Academy in the Federal Capital Territory - the reigning champion of the National Principals’ Cup competition for 2023.
FOSLA, as the country’s champion school, has been invited to participate in this year’s International School Sports Federation competition taking place in Morocco next month.
In his closing remarks, the NFF President disclosed that the Federation is striking a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports alongside the Federal Ministry of Education, plus the Nigeria School Sports Federation, to produce more representatives in subsequent editions of the African Secondary Schools Football Competition.
The NFF General Secretary - Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Director of Communications - Ademola Olajire, Director of Competitions - Ruth David, and the PA Sani Lulu - Alhaji Suleiman Yusuf, were also registered present at the meeting.
