Maikaba: Kano Pillars Were The Better Team Against Abia Warriors
By Emmanuel Chinedu
Kano Pillars head coach, Abdul Maikaba has praised the performance of his players after they suffered a hard fought 1-0 defeat to Abia Warriors, on Sunday, in a Matchday 3 encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Sunday Megwo scored the only goal of the game, in the 31 minutes to secure the maximum points for Abia Warriors, at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
While speaking shortly after the encounter, Maikaba praised the performance of the players, and also added that they were the better side in the game.
"Yes, it's a good game because Abia Warriors is a good side full of young players, " Maikaba said.
"However, I believe that we were the better team, because we played better than Abia Warriors.
"We could have won the game because of the scoring opportunities we created, but we were unable to converted our chances in the game, " he explained.
The gaffer also expressed his disappointment over the poor officiating in the game.
" However, I think the officiating was poor, because the referee denied us a clear cut penalty, which would have changed the direction of the game for us."
" We'll bounce back by taking one game at a time, so we focus more on the next game and to make sure that we have a good result at home."
The former Rangers Int'l gaffer also praised the impact that Rabiu Ali has had in the team, says he can still add more to help the team this season.
" Actually, I can say that Rabiu Ali currently is one of the experienced players we have in the league.
" So, even playing for Pillars, he has being helping the younger players to grow and you can see that we have similar players like Rabiu Ali in the team.
" Which I believe in his absence or even if he retires from playing football, we have capable hands to take over from him."
