The Egyptian Pro League Association has unveiled major changes to the structure of the Premier League for the upcoming season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a recent meeting—attended by representatives from 15 Premier League clubs, with Zamalek, Pyramids FC, and Haras El-Hodoud notably absent—the association outlined a bold new direction for Egyptian football.

The headline decision is the suspension of relegation for the 2025–26 season.

Instead of demoting teams, the league will welcome four new clubs from the second division, expanding its roster and laying the groundwork for a revamped competition format.

The league plans to revert to its usual system the following season, with four teams expected to be relegated after the expanded campaign concludes.

These reforms are part of a broader initiative to modernize the league and boost its competitiveness.

The absence of relegation is also seen as an opportunity for clubs to rebuild and attract investment without the immediate pressure of dropping divisions.
