South African powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns were crowned champions of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League after securing a hard-fought 2-1 aggregate victory over Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Brazilians, who took a slender 1-0 lead into the second leg from the first encounter in Pretoria, held AS FAR to a tense 1-1 draw in the return fixture played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Sunday night.

AS FAR came out with high intensity in front of a passionate home crowd, dominating early proceedings and pressing aggressively for the goal that would level the tie.

However, Sundowns’ well-organised defence stood firm, soaking up pressure and limiting clear-cut chances.

The breakthrough for the Moroccan side eventually arrived as they found the net to make it 1-0 on the night, momentarily threatening to turn the tie around.

But Mamelodi Sundowns showed their champion pedigree, responding with a clinical equaliser that restored their aggregate advantage and proved decisive in the final outcome.

Despite a late onslaught from AS FAR as they searched desperately for a winner, the South African champions remained resolute at the back, managing the game intelligently to see out the draw and claim the continental crown.

The 2-1 aggregate success marks yet another landmark achievement for Mamelodi Sundowns, further cementing their position as one of Africa’s most dominant and successful clubs in the modern era.

The victory adds to their growing legacy in the CAF Champions League.
