Manchester City are confident of signing Nigeria-born Arsenal sensation Ethan Nwaneri, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.
Nwaneri made Premier League history against Brentford back in September, becoming the league's youngest ever player when he came off the bench at the age of 15.
In accordance with his talent, the Englishman has skipped age groups, playing for both the U-18s and U-21s this season, scoring six times and providing four assists in the process.
While he has also featured 12 times for England’s Under-17 side, notching a further seven goals.
Unfortunately for the Gunners, however, his talent has attracted plenty of interest, with a number of clubs plotting a swoop before he signs a professional deal at the Emirates.
And among those vying for his signature are Manchester City, who are in 'pole position' to sign the teenager, claim Football Insider.
Nwaneri must wait until he is 17 before he can sign a professional deal, and Pep Guardiola has allegedly 'spotted an opportunity to pounce'.
But according to a separate report, Arsenal are "doing all they can" to prevent Nwaneri from leaving north London amid City's pursuit.
