Man of the Match Iwobi Fires Fulham Past Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur’s troubling Premier League form continued on Sunday as they suffered a 2–1 defeat to Fulham F.C. at Craven Cottage, increasing the pressure on head coach Igor Tudor, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi delivered a commanding performance, earning the Man of the Match award after scoring a decisive goal and dictating much of Fulham’s attacking play, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Fulham made a bright start and seized the initiative in the seventh minute. A looping delivery into the Spurs penalty area caused confusion in defence, and the loose ball fell kindly to Harry Wilson, who reacted quickly to finish from close range.

Tottenham appealed for a foul in the build-up, claiming that Raúl Jiménez had unfairly challenged Radu Drăgușin. However, following a brief review, the goal was allowed to stand.

The visitors struggled to find rhythm as Fulham controlled possession and tempo throughout much of the first half. Kenny Tete nearly added a second with a strike that drifted narrowly wide.

Fulham’s dominance was rewarded again when Iwobi produced a moment of individual brilliance. The midfielder unleashed a superb long-range effort that flew into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance and doubling the hosts’ advantage.

After the interval, Fulham continued to threaten. Emile Smith Rowe missed two promising opportunities, while Jiménez saw a goal-bound attempt blocked by Spurs captain Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham responded through substitutions, with Richarlison reducing the deficit with a well-taken header from Archie Gray’s inviting cross. Pape Matar Sarr later struck the side-netting as Spurs pressed for an equaliser, but Fulham held firm to secure all three points.

The defeat leaves Tottenham hovering just four points above the relegation zone, intensifying concerns about their slide down the table.

Iwobi’s display proved pivotal. The 29-year-old featured for 89 minutes, completed 85 percent of his passes, created four chances and scored the goal that ultimately sealed Fulham’s victory — a performance worthy of the Man of the Match accolade.
