The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named a team of Mauritanian officials to oversee the CAF Champions League first round, first leg fixture between FC Les Aigles du Congo of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria’s Rivers United FC, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Moussa Diou will serve as the centre referee for the encounter, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 20, at the Complexe Omnisports Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m. local time, which coincides with Nigerian time.

Diou will be supported by fellow Mauritanians Kalidou Ba (Assistant Referee 1) and Adberrahmane Anne (Assistant Referee 2). Dahane Beida has been appointed as the fourth official. CAF has also designated Antonio Esono Maquina Bindang of Equatorial Guinea as the match commissioner.

This match marks the first leg of the home-and-away format used in the CAF Champions League qualifying rounds.

According to tournament regulations, if teams are level on aggregate after the second leg, the away goals rule will be applied. If the tie remains unresolved, it will be decided via a penalty shootout—no extra time will be played.

The eventual champions of the 2025 edition of the CAF Champions League will secure automatic qualification for several elite international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, the expanded 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, and the 2026 CAF Super Cup, where they will face the winners of the 2025–26 CAF Confederation Cup.
