Middlesbrough Manager Gives Update On Chuba Akpom's Contract

Michael Carrick has reaffirmed that the team wants to maintain Chuba Akpom, but talks with the striker have yielded no results that are concrete, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Boro struggled to get going this season, but after Carrick took over in November 2022, they started to gel. Middlesbrough has won twelve Championship games under Carrick.
The Nigerian has been a key factor in Carrick's success in North Yorkshire. In 27 Championship games, the 27-year-old striker has scored 19 goals, 13 of which have come under Carrick's leadership.
Coach Carrick disclosed that although the 27-year-old goal scorer and the club are still in contact, no progress has been made.
“Chuba(Akpom) is doing great for us and his contract extension, is something we are looking at between now and the end of the season,†Carrick said per Gazette live.
“However, it’s not just Chuba alone but also contracts for players moving ahead into the summer and next season. Individually though, there is nothing concrete on Chuba now,†Carrick added.
