Italian Serie A champions, AC Milan have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Nigerian prodigy Raphael Onyedika as the the sporting director of FC Midtjylland has commented on the interest.
The latest update from Gianluca Di Marzio during Calciomercato L’Originale on Sky (via MilanNews) Thursday night stated that the Rossoneri are still seeking an agreement with Midtjylland for the purchase of Onyedika.
However, things are currently at a stand still because the Danish club are searching for a new head coach and therefore require the approval from their new coach before they agree to selling the Nigerian midfielder.
Interviewed by Eurosport.dk, the sporting director of Midtjylland -Svend Graversen – spoke about the situation linked to Onyedika and revealed that the club’s plan is to keep him for another season.
“We understand the great interest in him, but we really want to keep him for another year,†he said (via Francesco Nasato).
It could of course be a method to put the ball back in Milan’s court to try and get a better offer, with the next few days likely to be crucial.
