Molokwu Scoops Imo SWAN Heartland FC Player Of The Month For December

Combative and hard-as-nail defender, Christian Molokwu is the latest winner of the Imo SWAN Heartland FC Player of the Month for December 2024, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The versatile right back who can also operate as a central defender and even in the midfield was unanimously voted as the fourth winner of the prestigious award after he polled the highest number of votes to defeat his teammates, Tobi Iyanda, Kelvin Ogunga, Samuel Wisdom and Promise Anyanwu who also had exceptional December, to the award.

Just as it was done in previous months that the award was held, Imo SWAN members solely took part in the voting exercise that has produced Molokwu as the winner this term.

Molokwu featured in all five games played by Heartland FC in December, emerging as the Man of the Match in the home game with Nasarawa United, where he bagged the matchwinner.

It was the Naze Millionaires' only victory last month.

Though Goalkeeper Kelvin Ogunga was the Man of the Match in the game with Lobi Stars due to his impeccable saves, Molokwu was very outstanding in the defence in Lafia, helping his team to ward off potential danger from ball incursions throughout the encounter.

Molokwu, the former defunct FC Ifeanyi Ubah defender would be presented with the award in Heartland FC's next home game with Lobi Stars later in the month.

It should be recalled that Peters Afolayan (September), Ebuka Nwokoecha (October) and Surajudeen Lawal (November) were previous winners of the award.

Imo SWAN Heartland FC Player of the Month Award is solely organised by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter to reward the most outstanding Heartland FC player every month until the end of the season when the Imo SWAN Heartland FC Player of the Season would be unveiled.

The Association is open to sponsorship from individual and corporate organisations within and outside the state from Imo people to ensure the accolade is better packaged with the potential sponsor(s) getting the value for their investment.
