Moroccan Coach Gives Update On Team Ahead Of Nigeria Clash
Sampson Adedeji
Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has provided an update on the state of his squad ahead of the crucial semi-final encounter against Nigeria at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Atlas Lions are expected to parade a near full-strength squad for the showdown, with only midfielder Azzedine Ounahi ruled out of the encounter.
Regragui confirmed that captain Romain Saïss has resumed training and is making good progress in his recovery, raising hopes of his availability for the tie.
Saïss’ return could be a timely boost for Morocco’s defence, which has come under scrutiny in recent games, with Jawad El Yamiq and Adama Masina yet to fully convince in central defensive roles.
Speaking to reporters, Regragui expressed optimism about his squad’s condition while emphasizing calmness and focus ahead of the high-stakes fixture.
“Saïss has resumed training and he is coming back very well.
Apart from Azzedine Ounahi, who is out, everyone will be available,” the Atlas Lions coach stated.
Regragui also highlighted the importance of maintaining composure as Morocco targets a place in the final, noting that emotional control and serenity will be vital against an ambitious Nigerian side in what promises to be a tense semi-final battle.
