Nigeria's Flamingos delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating South Africa's Bantwana 3-1 in Pretoria in the first leg of the second qualifying round for the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, BSN Sports reports.

Despite the hosts starting strong and controlling possession early on, Nigeria struck first against the run of play in the 20th minute, with Shakirat Moshood opening the scoring.

Chidi Harmony extended Nigeria’s lead in the 40th minute from the penalty spot, giving the Flamingos a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

South Africa pulled one back in the 47th minute, with Malebana converting a penalty to reduce the deficit. However, Harmony sealed the victory for Nigeria with her second goal in the 67th minute, ensuring a 3-1 away win.

The return leg is scheduled to take place at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
