South Africa U17 Women’s coach, Ntombifuthi Khumalo, has explained why her team fell to Nigeria in their recent World Cup qualifier, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Bantwana suffered a 3-1 defeat to Nigeria’s Flamingos in the first leg of the second qualifying round for the U17 Women's World Cup.

Khumalo attributed the loss to her team’s inability to defend under pressure, promising to address the issue before the return leg.

"Once our opponents put pressure on us, we struggled to protect our goal," she admitted.

"That’s the key challenge we need to fix before the second leg. The girls showed resilience, and we now know what to improve on."

The decisive second leg is scheduled for this weekend at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
