Morocco 2025: Super Eagles Suffer Defeat To World Cup Qualifying Opponents

The Super Eagles of Nigeria suffered a 1-2 defeat to World Cup Qualifying opponents, Rwanda in the final game of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Despite securing the ticket to the 35th Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, the three-time African champions failed to win in front of their home fans at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo

Samuel Chukwueze opened the scoring for the Super Eagles in the 59th minute before Rwanda quickly turned the tide, with Aimable Mutinzi equalizing in the 72nd minute. 

Just three minutes later, Imanishimwe Nshuti capitalized on a defensive error to complete the comeback and seal an unforgettable win for the visitors.

The Super Eagles ended the group stage with three wins, two draws, and one loss while Benin Republic joined Nigeria in qualifying for the tournament, finishing second in the group with 8 points, edging out Rwanda on goal difference.

Libya, with just 5 points, concluded the qualifiers at the bottom of the table.
