Morocco Launches Bank Note To Celebrate AFCON 2025 In Style

Morocco has marked its hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with the unveiling of special commemorative currency, underscoring the country’s pride and ambition ahead of the continental showpiece, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The North African nation has introduced a limited-edition 100-dirham banknote alongside a 250-dirham silver coin to celebrate the 35th edition of Africa’s premier football tournament, which it will host in 2025.

According to Moroccan authorities, both the banknote and the coin were designed and produced entirely by Moroccan experts.

The commemorative pieces blend football culture with national identity, reflecting Morocco’s rich heritage and its growing reputation as a leading sporting destination on the continent.

The designs feature the image of King Mohammed VI, alongside African symbols and iconic sporting landmarks that highlight the country’s modern infrastructure and readiness to host major international events.

The initiative has been described as more than a symbolic gesture, serving as a statement of Morocco’s ambition, cultural pride, and increasing stature within African and global sports.
