Host nation, Morocco defeated South Africa 3-1 on Thursday evening in Mohammedia to secure their place in the semi-finals, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Backed by a passionate home crowd at the Stade El Bachir, the Atlas Cubs were clinical when it mattered most, with Ziyad Baha scoring twice in a dominant second-half display after the teams went into the break with the Moroccans holding a slender 1-0 lead.

The win sees Morocco taking on West Africans, Ivory Coast in semifinalist of the competition. 

Meanwhile, Cote D'Ivoire on Friday night defeated the defending champions, Senegal in a penalty shoot-out duel to pick a semifinal spot. 

With the score tied at 0-0 at full time, it was left to the lottery of penalties to decide the winner, as Cote d’Ivoire emerged winners 5-3 on penalties.

In the two Semifinal fixtures, Burkina Faso will take on Mali at 5:00pm in the race for the final while hosts, Morocco trade tackles with Ivory Coast in the second semifinal at 8:00pm. Both games hold on Tuesday, 15th April, 2025.
