Morocco To Battle Nigeria For World Cup Winner, Blanc

By Oluwayemi Omolagba

According to reports from Ignazio Genuardi via Get Football News, World Cup participants Morocco have joined Nigeria in the race to hire former France Manager, Laurent Blanc, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Having secured a place in Qatar, Morocco may look the right destination for Laurent Blanc who has also been shortlisted for the vacant coaching position left by Austin Eguavoen in Nigeria.

Although Vahid Halilhodzic qualified Morocco for Qatar, fallout with star players like Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea has left the country pondering if he would be able to handle the team and the pressure to come at the biggest stage.

1998 World Cup winner with France, Blanc has never worked in Africa, as he has only previously managed Bordeaux, the French national team, Paris Saint-Germain, and Al-Rayyan.

The former Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Manchester United defender is, however, open to a new challenge, having recently managed Qatari club Al-Rayyan – the first time he is coaching outside of Europe.
