The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Morocco will remain the host nation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with no alteration to the tournament schedule, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The decision was ratified during the CAF Executive Committee meeting held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, under the leadership of CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

Speculations had emerged in recent weeks suggesting that Morocco could withdraw from hosting duties, raising concerns about a possible change of venue or shift in dates.

However, CAF moved swiftly to dispel the rumours, reaffirming both the host country and the originally stipulated timeline for the competition.

Morocco successfully hosted the previous edition of the tournament in 2022, earning plaudits for its organisation, infrastructure, and record-breaking attendance figures.

The North African nation is expected to build on that legacy when it stages the 2026 edition. The confirmation provides clarity for participating nations as they intensify preparations for the continent’s flagship women’s football tournament.
