Moussa Cissé Steps Down As Senegal Women Head Coach After WAFCON Exit

Senegal women's national team head coach Mame Moussa Cissé has resigned from his position following the Teranga Lionesses' elimination from the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Cissé's departure comes after Senegal failed to progress beyond the group stage of the tournament in Morocco.

The Teranga Lionesses finished third in Group A with four points from three matches, recording one win, one draw, and one defeat.

Their campaign ended with a goalless draw against tournament hosts Morocco, a result that was not enough to secure qualification for the knockout stage.

Cissé, who guided Senegal to consecutive WAFCON appearances, now leaves his role as the Senegalese Football Federation begins the search for a new head coach ahead of future international competitions.
