Top marksman, Ibrahim Mustapha Yuga has emerged as Plateau United's player of February.
BSNSports.com.ng gathered that the former Al-Hilal of Sudan striker scooped the award after hitting a rich vein of form to score four goals in the first Stanza of the ongoing 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Maiduguri-born striker who has been in and out of Plateau United in the past three years is one of the team's most reliable strikers whose goals have put the team back in contention for a place in the season-ending Super Six play-offs.
An excited Mustapha who could not hide his joy over the award thanked his teammates, coaches, and club supporters for their support and dedicated the feat to God almighty.
"This award is coming to me as a surprise because I was not expecting it. Nevertheless, am happy over it, and Insha Allah, am going to continue to give my best to ensure Plateau United reaches its target this season," the former Enyimba striker remarked.
Yuga as he is fondly called by his admirers first joined the Peace Boys in 2019, and his 17 goals that season propelled Plateau United to the league title before going abroad to play in the United Arab Emirates UAE league.
He returned to the NPFL to team up with the Peace Boys in 2021, but after the season, he pitched a tent with Sudanese giants, Al-Hilal in a short deal where he represented the North African club in the CAF Champions League.
At the beginning of this season, Yuga terminated his contract with Al-Hilal over irreconcilable differences and retraced his steps back to Jos to rejoin the Peace Boys for a third stint.
Plateau United Player of the month award is an initiative of Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu which serves as an avenue of boosting the morale of the players to give their best in a healthy and peaceful atmosphere.
