My Achievement Was Considered Not Significant – Former Ivory Coast Coach Emerson Fae

Former Ivory Coast head coach Emerson Fae has expressed his disappointment after his achievements with the national team were, in his view, not considered significant enough to earn a contract renewal.

Fae's contract with the Ivorian Football Federation expired on July 31 and was not renewed, bringing an end to his spell in charge of the Elephants.

Reflecting on his time with the team, the former coach highlighted the progress made under his leadership, insisting that his accomplishments should not be overlooked.

 "We were 51st in the FIFA rankings, and today we are 31st. We won the AFCON and qualified for the World Cup. That is not insignificant," Fae said.

Fae guided Ivory Coast to a memorable Africa Cup of Nations title before leading the Elephants to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, achievements that also saw the country climb 20 places in the FIFA world rankings.

Despite those successes, the Ivorian Football Federation opted against extending his contract, ending his tenure with the national team.
