Two of Nigeria’s foreign-born basketball stars, Kelvin Amayo and Peter Olisemeka, have rejoined six-time Nigerian champions Rivers Hoopers for the ongoing Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) playoffs in Port Harcourt, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Hoopers confirmed the return of both players on Wednesday, three days into the 2025 playoffs, as the team continues its push for a seventh league title and a spot in the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Amayo, who played a pivotal role in Rivers Hoopers’ third-place finish at the 2024 BAL, averaged 16 points, 6.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game.
His outstanding form earned him places on both the All-BAL Second Team and the BAL All-Defensive Second Team.
He also led the KingsMen to victory in the 2024 NBPL Final Eight, helping them secure a spot in the BAL.
The dynamic guard was later named the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs and featured in the tournament’s Best Five.
