NFF Admonishes NPFL On 2024/25 League Fixtures

By Sampson Adedeji

The President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has warned the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) not to repeat the mistake they made last season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The President also confirmed officially that the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League will run its normal full 38 match days for each club.

There has been speculation in the past days that the upcoming league season will be an abridged format due to financial constraints experienced by some teams last season.

But the Annual General Meeting of the league body and the club owners was held on Tuesday and it was agreed that there will be no abridged format.

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation Ibrahim also said other competitions will be put into consideration before drawing fixtures to avoid match accumulation.

He further made it clear that there will be no postponement of games.

“Last season we had challenges with fixtures. We have to keep the fixtures. You shouldn’t make the fixtures public until everything is in order. We must keep to it. There shouldn’t be accumulated fixtures again. No postponement of matches.

“We must keep to the fixtures from the beginning to the end of the season.

When drawing up the fixtures, you must take into consideration other competitions like the Federation Cup.

With your cooperation, we will achieve this. By the grace of God, we would make a lot of changes", he said.
