NFF Appoints Jegede-Idakwo, Omodiaghe As Flamingos’ Assistants

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the appointment of assistant coaches for the U17 Girls’ National Team, the Flamingos, following recommendations from its Technical and Development Committee, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Former Nigeria international defender Joy Jegede-Idakwo has been named first assistant coach, while another ex-international, Aighewi Omodiaghe, takes up the role of second assistant.

In addition, former Nigeria international Kola Ige has been appointed as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.

Jegede-Idakwo previously captained the Falconets and earned several caps with the Super Falcons, while Omodiaghe was part of the Nigeria U17 side that featured at the inaugural FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand in 2008.

The trio will work alongside Head Coach Akeem Ishola Busari as the Flamingos aim to qualify for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco and improve on their third-place finish achieved in 2022.
