NFF Confirms Participating Teams As Federation Cup Enters National Stage

By Niyi Busari

All is set for the next phase of the 2026 President Federation Cup as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirms that all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have successfully submitted their representatives for the national competition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The submission follows the conclusion of state-level finals held across the country last weekend. According to the NFF’s earlier directive, finals in the 35 states and the FCT took place on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, 2026, bringing the preliminary stage of the competition to a close.

With the state champions now decided, attention shifts to the national draw, which is expected to be conducted in Abuja in the coming days. The draw will officially usher in the national phase of Nigeria’s oldest domestic football competition.

Before the main tournament begins, a National Playoff round will be held. This stage will feature lower-ranked teams competing for places in the Round of 64. The winners will then advance to join seeded teams, including some of the country’s top clubs, in the competition proper.

The President Federation Cup remains a key fixture in Nigeria’s football calendar, offering clubs from across all tiers the opportunity to compete for national honours.
