NFF Confirms Super Falcons Players’ Travel Plans As CAF Shifts 2026 WAFCON

Players of the Nigeria women's national football team have returned to their respective clubs across Europe and other parts of the world following two international friendly matches against the Cameroon women's national football team in Yaoundé, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The overseas-based players departed directly from Cameroon after the two-legged encounters, while the home-based contingent and team officials returned to Nigeria on Wednesday.

The team had initially planned to travel to Morocco to continue preparations for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which was originally scheduled to begin on March 17.

However, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the tournament until July. The continental governing body has yet to confirm the host nation for the competition.

Speaking to BSN Sports, Ademola Olajire, Director of Communication at the Nigeria Football Federation, clarified the travel arrangements for the squad.

“Only the Nigerian players and officials who left Abuja have returned to Nigeria,” Olajire said. “Other players flew directly from Cameroon to their clubs in Europe and other parts of the world with direct tickets provided by the Nigeria Football Federation.”

The friendly matches formed part of the Super Falcons’ build-up to the continental tournament, which will now take place later in the year following CAF’s decision to adjust the schedule.
