The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Malam Shehu Dikko, has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Football Federation, while calling for urgent reforms to align its statutes with global standards, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Dikko made this known during the NFF Congress held in Yenagoa, where key stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the future of football administration in the country.
Speaking at the event, Dikko emphasized the readiness of the commission to collaborate with the NFF in ensuring that the reform process is both comprehensive and compliant with international best practices, particularly those of FIFA.
“The National Sports Commission under my leadership remains committed to working with the Nigeria Football Federation and all stakeholders in this process,” he said.
“We are ready to provide the necessary institutional support, policy guidance, and legal framework to ensure that the required reforms are properly structured, legally sound, and in line with FIFA principles as well as Nigerian laws.”
The call for reforms is seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, transparency, and operational efficiency within Nigerian football.
