NFF Electoral Process Gathers Momentum With Official Congress Notification

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has formally notified its member associations and key football stakeholders of its Elective Congress, scheduled to hold on September 26, 2026, in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The notification, dated June 26, 2026, was conveyed in a letter signed by the NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi. According to the federation, the notice was issued in compliance with Article 32 of the NFF Statutes and on the directive of the Executive Committee.

Recipients of the notification include state football associations, congress delegates, league bodies, as well as the associations representing coaches, referees and players.

Preparations for the elections began on April 2, 2026, when the NFF inaugurated the Electoral Committee and the Electoral Appeals Committee following the Federation's Extraordinary General Assembly held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

A total of 12 members were appointed to the two bodies, with seven serving on the Electoral Committee and five on the Electoral Appeals Committee.

The Electoral Committee is mandated to oversee and conduct the election in accordance with the relevant provisions of the NFF Statutes (March 2026), while the Appeals Committee will adjudicate on matters arising from the electoral process.
