By Niyi Busari
The Head of Nigeria's FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS), Nasiru Jibril has stated that the project will bring an end to the massive failure of MRI Test by the U17 players, BSN sports.com.ng reports.
Nasiru, a former Golden Eaglets player and top Nigeria Football Federation official added that the program lays the foundation for all national teams.
Speaking exclusively with BSN Sports on Saturday night after the end of one-week camping of the Nigeria U15 national team, the former El-Kanemi Warriors player said, "After the first phase, I was very skeptical whether we are going on a right foot but when the second phase came, we had over ninety players and now we have trimmed them down to 38 players. We have players from between 12 to 15 years from different part of the country.
"The level of intelligence and techniques they exhibited gave me the needed confident in the project that we are on right track, building the foundation for all national teams.
"Since they resumed camping six days ago, they have played five matches with different clubs and with results, we have achieved a lot in bringing together players that can easily make it to all tiers of national teams.
"The project is an opportunity for the coaches of Golden Eaglets to check out these guys and give them the platform because as soon as we move them out of U15 they're suppose to be invited for the U17.
"You know this situation we always have with the MRI, every year we have many players failing the Tests, looking at this kids, 99% of them will pass the test seamlessly and that alone goes a long way in achieving best results at the U17 level. I am really optimistic that this will help Nigeria."
