NFF In Search Of International Friendly Game For Flying Eagles After Egypt Withdrawal

By Niyi Busari

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will soon announce another international friendly match for the Flying Eagles in replacement of the canceled warm up games versus Egypt, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The NFF had earlier announced two legged friendly matches with Egypt but Thursday's CAF U20 AFCON draw saw the two teams having their first match against each other affected the planned games. The Flying Eagles resumed camping for the two friendly matches last Monday in Abuja and the players and officials will have to go back to their different clubs until they're recalled for camping again.

"You know that the friendly games were fixed before the draw, but when both countries discovered that there first match is against each other, there is no other option than to call it off." Top NFF official who preferred to remain anonymous told www.bsnsports.com.ng

He continued, "Meanwhile, we are already searching another international friendly game with a good team from another group. Also, the team will travel to Cote D'Ivoire on time to acclimatize with weather and play friendly games there too before the competition begins.

"Early preparations is key, and we won't let this change our plan of early camping for the Flying Eagles but for now, they are likely to return back to their teams." He concluded.
