NFF Launches 'Mission X' to Rally Support for Super Falcons' Historic Title Quest

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled 'Mission X', a strategic media campaign designed to rally nationwide and international support for the Super Falcons as they aim for a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco next month, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With nine WAFCON titles from 12 editions since the tournament’s inception in 1998, the Super Falcons remain the most successful women’s national team on the continent. Now, the team sets its sights on achieving a milestone 10th crown in what has been dubbed their "Mission X."

“This campaign is about unity and belief,” said Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, NFF General Secretary, speaks from the United States on Tuesday. “We are committed to fully supporting the Super Falcons’ campaign for a 10th continental title, and we want football-loving Nigerians — at home and abroad, young and old — to join in and show their unwavering support.”

The campaign calls on fans from Abuja to Casablanca to energize and uplift the team throughout the competition. The Super Falcons will play their group-stage matches in Casablanca and will continue their pursuit of glory across various venues in Morocco should they advance to the knockout stages.

“The Super Falcons are not just champions — they are pioneers and ambassadors for Nigerian and African women’s football,” Sanusi added. “They have made history before, and with the right support, they can make history again.”

Nigeria's dominance in women’s football also includes earning Africa’s sole tickets to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991 (China) and 1995 (Sweden), prior to the establishment of the tournament-format WAFCON.

The Mission X campaign will run across digital platforms, broadcast media, and in diaspora communities, featuring the slogan:

“Mission X: One Team. One Goal. One More Star.”
