NFF Postpones Annual General Assembly Ahead Of September Elective Congress

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has postponed its Annual General Assembly (AGA) earlier scheduled to hold on February 14, 2026, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a notice circulated to members of Congress, the federation announced that the assembly has now been rescheduled for March 26, 2026. Letters informing congressmen of the change have been dispatched accordingly.

Confirming the development, NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said the decision was taken after consultations and due to unforeseen circumstances.

“We have shifted the Congress to late March in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following extensive consultations and unforeseen developments,” Sanusi said in Abuja.

The Congress, which is being convened outside the federation’s statutory Annual General Assembly framework, is expected to bring together members of the NFF Executive Committee, chairmen of state football associations, representatives of the various leagues, and other key stakeholders in Nigerian football.

According to sources within the Glass House, the Extraordinary Congress will deliberate on issues requiring urgent attention, including key policy matters and resolutions deemed critical to the effective administration and long-term development of the game in Nigeria.

Preparations for the NFF’s September Elective Congress are also expected to feature prominently on the agenda. The elective assembly will usher in a new Executive Committee to oversee the affairs of the country’s football governing body.

The NFF has formally communicated the convening of the Extraordinary Congress to all stakeholders, with proposals for the expansion of the Executive Committee and Congress membership listed among key discussion points.
