NFF Presidency: Football Stakeholders Mount Pressure On Me To Contest - Akwuegbu

Former Super Eagles striker, Benedict Akwuegbu has said that football stakeholders in Nigeria saw him as one who has the capacity to turn around the fortune for Nigeria football.

The NFF incumbent President, Amaju Pinnick had said he will not contest for the Third Term, hence many people have come out to vie for the position.

The former Super Eagles captain who played for the national teams for 19 years said he throws his cap on the ring to contest for the NFF Presidency following the pressure on him to serve his fatherland with the knowledge he has on how to move the Nigeria football forward.

"Many football stakeholders in Nigeria have been calling ke to come out and bail Nigeria football from drowning. At first, I thought about not contesting but now i have made up my mind to contest and win the position to move the game to the promised land." Akwuegbu told BSN Sports

Akwuegbu who played in eight foreign countries including England Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, China, Belgium and Greece scored 12 goals in the Uefa Champions League during his playing days. He played for Nigeria at the 2002 World Cup. He was one of the few players to have played for the Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles, U23 Eagles and Super Eagles.
