NFF Prioritizes Transparency, Rules Out Statute Amendments in 2025 AGM

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially denied reports suggesting that its Statutes will be amended during the upcoming 2025 Annual General Assembly, scheduled for 27 September, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Federation emphasized that there are no plans to introduce or adopt amendments to its Statutes during the Assembly, countering speculation that had circulated in recent days.

“As part of our standard procedures, a workshop will be held on 26 September 2025,” the NFF said. “This session will bring together representatives of NFF Member Delegates, as well as officials from FIFA and CAF, to deliberate on proposals for potential future reforms to the Statutes.”

The Federation described the workshop as an initial consultation phase aimed at aligning discussions with international best practices and governance principles advocated by FIFA and CAF. It further clarified that no formal decisions or amendments can be made unless a dedicated General Assembly is convened specifically for that purpose.

“This process is still at a very preliminary stage,” the NFF stated. “Only after consensus is reached with our Members will any constitutional review be formally considered.”

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement, the NFF assured the public and football community that all statutory processes will be conducted in full compliance with established procedures and global governance standards.

The Federation underscored that the overarching goal of any future amendment process is to strengthen institutional governance, enhance stakeholder representation, and build a stable, inclusive, and progressive structure for Nigerian football.
